Innocents (Dusty Book 1) by Mary Elizabeth & Sarah Elizabeth <— BLAST FROM OUR BOOK PAST ALERT!! This recommendation came on strong and HARD and it was for a hugely popular fan fiction that eventually became a HUGELY popular book. It was all anyone was talking about in our indie world, and it’s so fun to have found this old recommendation from back when it was still in its infancy.
Amy: …how exciting for the authors to start off writing their stories as fanfic and then to have them published! All I know is that I’m going to be reading Dusty *very* soon after reading the reactions to it. 😀
Michelle: Yeah I just looked too Amy and I have the first Dusty book so it caught my attention but had no idea it was originally fanfiction. What is it suppose to be for – Twilight?
Danielle: Dusty.
Sighing forever.
It honestly broke me. I am broken. It spurred the worst book-slump of all time. It’s one of my top five of all time, easy. I read it in October and have yet to see the end of this slump. Read it! We can be broken together!…I literally just sighed, again.
And then I found this amazing email by Debi, and while I didn’t post it then, I KNEW this would be a perfect Blast From our Book Past post!
Debi: OMG I love your blog!! I read your blog almost everyday so I know what to read next!
I have never contacted you before but I just read a book that… I don’t even know how to explain how I feel right now.
It’s called Dusty by Yellowbella, it’s a fanfiction which I usually don’t read.
Please please look into reading it, I would love to hear your thoughts. I don’t know if any other book can measure up after reading this.. It may have ruined me!
…I’m still a bit overwhelmed and it’s been a few days since I finished reading it!
Thanks! Debi
And Danielle agrees and also personally messaged me with her own mini-review on Facebook:
Hi!
So, I’ve never written or commented, but I love your blog and I’m all up in your book business.
Anyhow, I had to submit an unreasonable demand by a stranger and insist that you read both Dusty books. Like, now! This story broke me. I’m broken. You’ll feel broken too. It’ll be awesome!
I can only compare it to the feelsies I had when reading Twilight, although they are absolutely nothing alike, which is nutty considering its fanfic roots, but I’m sure you know that already and oh gosh just read it right this minute!
I couldn’t put it down at all. Like, wake-up-to-nurse-my-2-month-old-in-the-middle-of-the-night-and-read-well-after-he’s-fallen-back-asleep-and-the-three-year-old-is-about-to-get-up-because-it’s-already-morning couldn’t put it down!
Worst book hangover ever, so post some reviews of hangover busters because this one is a doozy.
Enjoy!

THE DELINQUENT DOWN THE HALL…
Dusty Duet
HE’S THE BAD BOY THE DELINQUENT DOWN THE HALL…
“The girl with an innocent heart knows all about bad choices, but has yet to make them for herself. Searching for freedom, she finds it in the delinquent down the hall.
The troublemaker with summer-sky blue eyes knows he should stay away, but can’t resist the blissful wonder who makes his house a home.
She’s a hopeless romantic. He’s just hopeless. She’s his reason, but he might not catch her when she falls. She loves him. He loves her crazy.
This is what happens when a love made of secrets is kept with rules instead of promises...”
April: Just finished them and loved them! I may need a support group though. These sucked you in and tortured your heart with all the feels!
Jasmine: I have the perfect bad boy for you … i think … Dusty innocents and Dusty delinquents both by mary and sarah elizabeth they are a must read….
Allison: I have had a book hangover for 2 months over the book “Innocents” by Mary Elizabeth & Kristen Elizabeth (formerly “Dusty”, with sequel “Delinquents”). I stumbled upon them in the airport downloading books for vacation and read both in a few days. I found myself sitting in the hotel room one day during vacation reading it!
I can’t stop thinking about this book! Its nothing short of amazing. The authors writing style is a bit different, but it is such a great book series that I can’t put my finger on what one thing makes it so great. A story of growing up and the pains that come with it, a first love story, lies and betrayal play a part. I HIGHLY recommend.
